Used Samsung screen price: what to check when buying an AMOLED

The price of a used (pulled) Samsung screen depends on the model, the panel’s condition and whether it comes with a frame. Since most Galaxy models use AMOLED panels, burn-in and colour shifts are the main risks of a used screen. It should be checked with grey and white screens before fitting.

02What is burn-in on AMOLED?

On AMOLED panels, areas that show the same image for a long time (status bar, keyboard, navigation buttons) glow less over time and leave a faint ghost. This is called burn-in. On a used panel this ghost comes from the previous user and cannot be removed later.

03How to check before fitting

  1. Grey screen. Open a plain grey image; faint text or button ghosts show burn-in.
  2. White screen. Pink, green or yellow areas on white are colour shifts.
  3. Black screen. Glowing dots or lines in the dark are panel faults.
  4. Touch. Drag an icon to every corner of the screen.
