- Take a screenshot: if the lines are not in the image, the panel is the problem.
- Restart the phone; rarely, a software bug causes lines.
- Drops, pressure and liquid are the most common causes; the lines can spread over time.

- If the lines come and go, the screen connection may be loose.
01Why do lines appear on the screen?
- Drops and knocks. The panel underneath can crack even if the glass looks fine.
- Pressure. Sitting on the phone or crushing it in a bag damages the panel.
- Liquid. Moisture can oxidise the screen connection.
- A loose connection. After a knock or an earlier repair, the screen connector can move.
- Software. Rarely, an update or an app causes a display glitch.
02How to tell the cause
- Take a screenshot. Open it on another device. If the lines are not in the image, the panel is at fault.
- Restart the phone. If the lines disappear, it was a temporary software glitch.
- Update the software. Install any pending update.
- Watch the lines. If they change or vanish when you press the phone, the connection may be loose.
