Symptoms

Is it the motherboard?

These symptoms can also come from other parts, so outside causes are ruled out first. All of it is part of the free diagnosis.

Will not turn on

No picture, vibration or sound when charging; the battery and charging port seem fine.

Stuck at the logo, restarting

The start-up logo comes and goes; reinstalling the software does not help.

Fault after liquid contact

After water, tea or another liquid, the device shut down or some functions stopped.

Heats up when idle

The device gets warm while unused and the battery drains quickly; there may be a leak on the board.

Several functions failed at once

Separate parts such as the camera, microphone or network stopped working together.

MacBook or iMac unresponsive

Nothing happens when you press power, or the fan spins but there is no picture.

How it works

How a motherboard repair works

  1. Free diagnosis

    Outside causes such as the battery, charging and screen are ruled out first; then the faulty area on the board is traced by measurement.

  2. Approval

    Whether the repair can be done, the risk it carries and the price are explained clearly; you decide.

  3. Repair

    The faulty component or area is repaired on the board. A board repair is not possible on every device; if not, we tell you.

  4. Test and return

    The device is tested for start-up, charging, network, camera and sound before it is handed over or shipped.

Data is usually preserved during a board repair, but the risk is higher than in other repairs. If the device still turns on, back it up before bringing it in; if not, we discuss this at diagnosis. Backups are the customer’s responsibility.

Repair routes

Repair or replace?

Two routes are discussed for board faults: repairing the faulty area or replacing the board. Which makes sense for your device is explained after diagnosis.

Board-level repair

The faulty IC, connector or trace is renewed; the board itself stays in place.

Motherboard replacement

If the board cannot be repaired, a replacement is discussed depending on the model; a new board does not hold the old data.

Note for iPhone: Face ID and Touch ID parts are paired to the motherboard; after a board replacement these features may not work. We tell you before approval.

Can a motherboard fault be repaired?

Many board faults can be repaired on the board itself; but if the damage is extensive, a repair may not be possible. We tell you clearly after the free diagnosis.

My phone had liquid contact. What should I do?

Switch it off, do not charge it and do not try to turn it on. Liquid can corrode the board over time; the sooner it is brought in, the better the chance of a repair.

Can the data on a device that will not turn on be reached?

Reaching the data usually requires the device to start again. A board repair can make that possible, but the outcome depends on the fault; we diagnose before promising anything.

The motherboard is the main board that carries the phone’s processor, storage and all connections. If the phone does not turn on, keeps restarting or shows faults that remain after parts are replaced, the motherboard should be checked. Simpler causes such as the battery and screen are ruled out first.

Does a phone motherboard replacement delete data?

If the motherboard is replaced entirely, the data does not move to the new board; photos and contacts only return from a backup (iCloud on iPhone, a Google account on Android, or a computer). So first we check whether the existing board can be repaired; then data is often kept, but this cannot be guaranteed.
