Changing the iPhone back colour: just the glass or the housing?

There are two ways to change an iPhone’s colour: replace only the back glass with glass in another colour, or replace the whole housing (body). If only the glass is replaced, the side frame keeps its old colour. A full colour change needs a new housing or a conversion housing.

02Why does the frame colour matter?

On iPhones the side frame is coloured too. If you replace only the back glass with another colour, the edges keep their old colour; some combinations can look mismatched. So if you want a clear colour change, a housing replacement gives a more consistent result.

03What to know before the change

  1. Colour options. Which colours are available depends on the model and part; we tell you at diagnosis.
  2. Wireless charging. Wireless charging is tested after the change.
  3. Water resistance. Factory-level water resistance should not be expected after a repair.
  4. Invoice. The replaced part is invoiced in your name.
