Changing your phone’s housing colour: how it works

The way to change a phone’s colour is a housing replacement: the board, battery, cameras and other parts are moved into a new housing in a different colour. 01How a housing replacement works

  1. Diagnosis. The screen, cameras, fingerprint and, on iPhone, Face ID are tested first.
  2. Moving the parts. The board, battery, cameras and buttons move to the new housing.
  3. Closing. The screen and back are sealed with adhesive.
  4. Testing. Charging, sound, cameras, wireless charging and network are tested.
