- Clear the app’s cache first.
- Update the app from the Play Store or Galaxy Store.
- On a preinstalled app, uninstall updates and reinstall them.
- Check sleeping apps in the battery settings.
- Clearing data signs you out; know your password.
01Steps in One UI
- Clear the cache. Settings › Apps › Facebook › Storage › Clear cache.
- Update. Update the app from the Play Store or Galaxy Store.
- Force stop. On the same screen, tap Force stop and reopen the app.
- Clear data. If it continues, Clear data returns the app to its first state; you are signed out.
Menu names can differ slightly by One UI version.
02A preinstalled app
On some Galaxy models Facebook comes with the system and cannot be removed completely. In that case you can uninstall updates from the three-dot menu on the app page, then update it again from the store. Disabling and re-enabling it can also help.
03Battery settings and storage
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Sleeping apps | Restricts background activity, delays notifications |
| Power saving | Can reduce app performance |
| Full storage | Apps can stall when opening |
Check under Settings › Battery whether the app is restricted. General steps for all phones are in Facebook app not opening; your Galaxy model’s repair rows are on the Samsung models page.
