Facebook app not opening on your phone: how to fix it

If the Facebook app will not open or closes straight away, first update it and restart the phone. Clearing the app’s cache on Android, or offloading and reinstalling it on iPhone, usually fixes it. If everyone has the problem at the same time, there may be a service outage.

  1. Update. Update Facebook from the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android.
  2. Restart. Turn the phone off and on.
  3. Cache. On Android: Settings › Apps › Facebook › Storage › Clear cache.
  4. Offload. On iPhone: Settings › General › iPhone Storage › Facebook › Offload App.
  5. Connection. Try another network and check the date and time are automatic.
