iPhone charging problem and the U2 fault: how to spot a charging IC issue

The chip repairers call “U2” manages charging and the USB connection on an iPhone. When it is damaged, the phone may not charge, may appear to charge without filling up or may not connect to a computer. 02Rule these out first

  1. Cable and adapter. Try another sound, compatible cable and adapter.
  2. Port. Check for lint or corrosion; details are in iPhone not charging: check before port replacement.
  3. Battery. Check for a “Service” message under Settings › Battery › Battery Health.
  4. Restart. A force restart rules out temporary glitches.
