Phone screen qualities: ranking screen types by closeness to the original

Ranking replacement screens by how close they are to the original makes the choice easier: original, refurbished, OEM OLED and OEM LCD. The further from the original, the more brightness, colour, fingerprint support and battery use can change. Market names vary from seller to seller.

On phones whose original screen is LCD, the comparison is with OEM LCD; there is no OLED option.

02If an LCD is fitted to an OLED phone

When a compatible LCD screen is fitted to an OLED phone, the phone works; but blacks can look grey, the screen may be slightly thicker, battery use can rise and the in-display fingerprint may not work. These differences should be explained before approval.

  2. Fingerprint, and True Tone on iPhone: Will they work?
  3. Invoice: Will the part type be written on it?
  4. Test: Will it be tested before return?
