What is True Tone, how do you turn it on and does it drain battery?

True Tone is an iPhone and iPad feature that adjusts screen colour and intensity to the ambient light; the screen looks warmer in a yellow-lit room and more neutral in daylight. Turn it on or off in Settings › Display & Brightness. If the option disappeared after a screen replacement, True Tone was not transferred.

  1. Settings. Turn True Tone on or off in Settings › Display & Brightness.
  2. Control Centre. Press and hold the brightness slider and tap the True Tone button.

Menu names vary by iOS version.
