01What is a front glass replacement?
A phone screen is made of layers: the protective front glass on top, the touch layer below it and the panel that shows the picture (OLED or LCD). In a front glass replacement only the broken top glass is separated, the panel stays in place and new glass is bonded over it. If the panel is intact, this is a different option from replacing the whole screen.
- The picture is sharp and colours are right.
- Touch responds across the whole screen.
- The crack is only in the glass surface; there are no stains or lines underneath.
02When is the whole screen replaced?
If the damage reaches the panel, replacing only the glass will not solve it. Any of these signs means a screen replacement:

03What sets the price?
The price of a front glass replacement cannot be given as a single figure. The model’s screen type, how the glass is bonded to the panel and the panel’s condition all affect it. On some models the glass and panel are fused so tightly that only a full screen replacement is possible. Other price factors are covered in our cracked phone glass repair cost article.
04How is it done?
- Free diagnosis. Picture and touch are tested to see whether the panel is intact.
- Approval. The front glass or screen option and the price are sent to you; nothing is done without your approval.
- Separating the glass. The broken glass is carefully separated from the panel and the surface is cleaned.
- New glass. The new glass is bonded, the screen is refitted and tested.
