What does “Service” mean in iPhone battery health?

If the Battery Health screen on your iPhone says “Service”, the battery’s capacity has dropped significantly; the phone runs out faster and may shut down under load. It is not a fault alert but a recommendation that the battery is due for replacement. Back up your data before the repair.

01What the battery health screen shows

  1. Open Settings › Battery › Battery Health & Charging.
  2. Maximum Capacity. Current capacity compared with when the battery was new.
  3. Peak Performance Capability. Shows whether performance is being managed.
  4. Service recommendation. Appears when capacity has dropped significantly.

Menu names vary by iOS version.
