Incoming calls not showing on iPhone: how to fix it

If incoming calls do not show on your iPhone, the cause is usually a setting: calls shown as a small banner, a Focus mode that is on or Silence Unknown Callers. If the settings are fine and calls never arrive, check the line or the network.

01Check the settings in order

  1. Incoming call display. In Settings › Phone › Incoming Calls choose “Full Screen”; with “Banner” the call appears small at the top.
  2. Focus. If a Focus is on in Control Centre, turn it off or allow callers.
  3. Silence Unknown Callers. If it is on in Settings › Phone, numbers not in your contacts go silently to voicemail.
  4. Blocked contacts. Check the list in Settings › Phone › Blocked Contacts.
  5. Screen Time. With communication limits on, only allowed people can call.

Menu names vary by iOS version.

Why does the call only appear small at the top?

With the Incoming Calls setting on “Banner”, calls appear small at the top. Choose “Full Screen” to change it.

Can I allow some people to call me during a Focus?

Yes. Choose allowed people in the Focus settings; their calls will show.

Does Silence Unknown Callers block calls?

It does not block them, but calls from numbers not in your contacts go to voicemail without ringing and appear in Recents.

The settings are right but calls never arrive. What should I do?

Try the SIM card in another phone. If calls fail there too, contact your carrier; if they work, contact us about your phone’s antenna.
