iPhone not charging to 100%: causes and fixes

An iPhone stopping at 80% is usually not a fault: Optimised Battery Charging holds charging at 80% to protect the battery and finishes before you usually unplug. 02Step by step

  1. Check the notice. If the lock screen says charging is on hold, it is a feature.
  2. Settings. Check Settings › Battery › Battery Health and Charging.
  3. Cool it. Charge it without a case in a cool place.
  4. Battery health. With a “Service” message, the battery needs replacing.
