iPhone opening apps by itself: Back Tap and other causes

If your iPhone opens apps or menus by itself, it is not always a touch fault. Back Tap, Shortcuts automations, Siri or Voice Control can also do this. Check these settings first; if they are all off, touch should be looked at.

  1. Update iOS. Software bugs can be fixed by an update.
  2. Restart. Temporary glitches often clear with a restart.
  3. Remove the protector and case. Accessories pressing on the screen can register as touches.
  4. Clean the screen. A damp or greasy screen can confuse touch.
