iPhone screen rotation not working: fixes

If your iPhone screen does not rotate, first check that Portrait Orientation Lock in Control Centre is off. Some apps, and the Home Screen on most models, only work upright; test in an app such as Photos. Restart the phone. If it does not rotate in any app, the motion sensor should be checked.

01Step by step

  1. Orientation lock. Open Control Centre and turn off the lock-and-arrow Portrait Orientation Lock.
  2. App. Test in an app that rotates, such as Photos or Calculator.
  3. Display Zoom. If the view is Zoomed in Settings › Display & Brightness, try Standard.
  4. Restart. Turn the phone off and on and update iOS.
