iPhone speaker crackling: causes and fix

If your iPhone speaker crackles, first check which one: the bottom speaker plays music and speakerphone, the earpiece works on calls. Remove the case, clean the grille with a dry brush and test in Settings › Sounds & Haptics. If crackling continues, the speaker cone is damaged and the speaker is replaced.

02What should you do?

  1. Remove the case. A case or protector may cover the grille.
  2. Clean it. Gently brush the grille with a soft, dry, clean brush.
  3. Test it. Drag the ringtone slider in Settings › Sounds & Haptics.
  4. Turn off Bluetooth. Make sure the sound is not going to another device.
  5. If it got wet. Let the phone dry; do not charge it.
