New battery fitted but not charging: what to do

If a newly fitted battery will not charge, first charge it for at least half an hour; a fully empty battery may not respond at first. Try another cable and force restart. If it still will not charge, the connector may not be seated, the battery may be incompatible or the port may be faulty.
