Phone charging port replacement: how it is done and what decides the cost

In a charging port replacement, the phone is opened, the faulty port or the part it sits on is removed and a new one is fitted. Charging and the data connection are then tested. The price depends on the model and how the port connects to the phone; we send it on WhatsApp.

01How a charging port replacement is done

  1. Diagnosis. Another cable and adapter are tried, and the port is cleaned and checked.
  2. Opening the phone. Depending on the model, it is opened from the back or the screen side, with heat and the right tools.
  3. Replacing the port. If the port is on a separate board, the board is replaced; if it is soldered to the main board, it is replaced under a microscope.
  4. Closing and sealing. The water and dust seal is renewed to suit the model.
  5. Testing. Charging, fast charging, the data connection and the microphone (if on the same part) are tested.
