Phone screen flex cable repair: signs and process

The flex is the thin, flexible cable connecting the screen to the phone’s board. A picture that comes and goes, flickering, or a screen that works when pressed can point to a flex or connection fault. On many models the flex is part of the screen and is replaced with it; on some it can be replaced alone.

02How the repair works

  1. Diagnosis. We find whether the fault is in the flex, the screen or the board.
  2. Connector check. The connector is cleaned and reseated.
  3. Flex or screen replacement. If the flex is part of the screen, the screen is replaced; if separate, only the flex.
  4. Testing. Picture, touch and brightness are tested.
