Samsung touch screen settings: sensitivity, protection and the test menu

Most touch settings on Samsung phones are under Settings › Display: “Touch sensitivity” makes the screen more responsive with thick protectors, and “Accidental touch protection” prevents unwanted touches in your pocket. If one area does not respond, you can check it with the *#0*# test menu on many Galaxy models.

Menu names can vary with the One UI version. Developer options are enabled by tapping the build number under About phone › Software information several times.

02Touch test with the *#0*# menu

  1. Open the Phone app. Type *#0*# on the keypad; on many Galaxy models a test menu opens.
  2. Choose the touch test. A grid of squares appears on the screen.
  3. Fill the squares with your finger. Go over every square without lifting your finger.
  4. Check the result. Squares that do not fill show the touch screen is not detecting in that area. Use the back key to leave the menu.

If the menu does not open, the model does not support it.

If the grid fills everywhere, the touch hardware works and the problem may be a setting. Increasing sensitivity is in increase touch screen sensitivity, reducing it in reduce touch screen sensitivity, and phantom taps in Android touch screen tapping by itself. If an area never fills, the screen is checked.
