How to turn off blue ticks on WhatsApp

To turn off blue ticks on WhatsApp, switch off Settings › Privacy › Read receipts. When it is off, others cannot see that you read their messages, and you cannot see theirs either. In group chats and for played voice messages, read receipts cannot be turned off.

  1. Settings. Open Settings in WhatsApp; on Android use the three dots at the top right.
  2. Privacy. Tap Privacy.
  3. Read receipts. Turn off the Read receipts switch.
