Water-damaged phone repair: what decides the cost?

The cost of repairing a phone that fell in water depends on which parts the water reached: sometimes cleaning the port is enough, sometimes a board repair or part replacement is needed. Acting correctly in the first minutes protects both the repair and your data.

01What to do in the first minutes

  1. Take the phone out and turn it off. While on, the risk of a short circuit rises.
  2. Do not charge it. Current through a wet port makes the fault worse.
  3. Remove the case and the SIM tray.
  4. Dry the outside. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth.
  5. Bring it in. Moisture inside does not leave by itself; oxidation spreads over time.
