Water in your phone’s microphone: rule out the settings first

If water got into your phone’s microphone, dry the phone and let it dry by itself; do not push anything into the hole or blow into it. If your voice still does not go through once dry, tell water from settings: a permission that is off, Bluetooth headphones or Android’s microphone switch give the same symptom.

01What not to do

  • Push something into the hole. A pin or cotton bud can damage the mesh and the microphone.
  • Blow or use compressed air. It can push the water further in.
  • Use a heater or hair dryer. Heat can damage parts.
  • Charge it while wet. Do not plug the phone in while there is moisture in the port.

Dry the phone, leave it with the microphone holes facing down and let it dry by itself.
