What is FaceTime and how do you use it?

FaceTime is the app for audio and video calls over the internet between Apple devices. Turn it on in Settings › FaceTime; it works over Wi-Fi or cellular data. Group FaceTime supports up to 32 people. Someone without an Apple device can join from a browser using a FaceTime link you send.

01Getting started with FaceTime

  1. Turn it on. Turn on FaceTime in Settings › FaceTime.
  2. Reachable at. Make sure your phone number and email address are selected.
  3. Start a call. In the FaceTime app, tap “New FaceTime” and choose a contact.
  4. Share a link. For someone without an Apple device, send an invite with “Create Link”.

Menu names vary by iOS version.
