What is root, and can an iPhone be rooted?

Rooting gives administrator-level access to an Android phone’s system files; the iPhone equivalent is jailbreaking. These open the phone to security holes and can stop apps like banking from working, cause update problems and even stop the phone from starting. We do not recommend them.
