Xiaomi screen brightness problem: dimming by itself?

If your Xiaomi screen dims by itself or will not get brighter, auto-brightness, reading mode or battery saver is usually active. The phone also limits brightness when it gets hot. If the screen is dark or flickers with normal settings, the screen should be checked.

01Check the settings

  1. Auto-brightness. Turn it off in Settings › Display (and brightness) and raise brightness by hand.
  2. Reading mode. Turn it off; it makes the screen yellowish and darker.
  3. Battery saver. Turn off saving mode in Settings › Battery.
  4. Restart. Sensor and software glitches clear.
  5. Update. Install any pending system update.

Menu names vary by HyperOS / MIUI version.
