Yellow spot on an iPhone screen: causes and fix

A yellow spot at the edge or corner of an iPhone screen is usually caused by pressure on the panel: a swollen battery, a knock or a tight case. First check whether the screen lifts from the frame; if so, the battery may be swollen. If the whole screen is evenly yellow, the cause is usually Night Shift or True Tone.

  1. Check the edge. If the screen is separating from the frame, do not charge the phone.
  2. Remove the case. A tight case can press on the edges.
  3. Check the settings. Turn off Night Shift and True Tone in Settings › Display & Brightness.
  4. Take a screenshot. If the spot is not in it, the screen hardware is the problem.
