Yellow phone screen: can it be fixed?

If the whole screen looks yellow, a setting is usually on: Night Shift or True Tone on iPhone, or eye comfort (blue light filter) on Android. Turning it off fixes it. If the yellow is in one area and settings do not change it, the panel or backlight is damaged and the screen needs replacing.

01Check the settings first

  1. Night Shift. On iPhone, turn off Settings › Display & Brightness › Night Shift.
  2. True Tone. On iPhone, turn off True Tone in the same menu and compare.
  3. Eye comfort. On Android, turn off the blue light filter or eye comfort setting.
  4. Screenshot. If the yellow area is not in a screenshot, the screen hardware is the problem.

Menu names vary by brand and version.
