Can dust get into the camera during an iPhone screen replacement?

During a screen replacement the phone is opened from the front, so the front camera is exposed; care is taken to keep it free of dust. The rear camera sits under the back glass, so it is usually unrelated to a screen replacement. When you collect the phone, take a photo with each camera and check.

  1. Shoot a plain surface. Photograph a white wall or the sky.
  2. Zoom in. A dot or shadow in the same place on every photo is dust.
  3. Separate the lenses. On the rear camera, switch between lenses such as 0.5x and 1x to find which one it is in.
