The other person cannot hear me on my iPhone: causes and fixes

If callers cannot hear you on your iPhone, turn off Bluetooth and remove the case first. Then test each microphone: a voice memo tests the bottom one, a front-camera video the front one and a rear-camera video the rear one. If a recording is silent, that microphone is faulty; back up your data before the repair.

02Step-by-step fix

  1. Turn off Bluetooth. Disconnect paired devices.
  2. Remove the case. It may cover the microphone holes.
  3. Clean the holes. Turn the phone off and gently clean them with a soft, dry brush.
  4. Check permissions. In Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone, the app’s permission should be on.
  5. Update. If it started after an update, restart and install any pending update.
