No sound either way on phone calls: how to fix it

If neither side can hear the other on a call, first turn off Bluetooth; the phone may be sending sound to a headset or car. Then restart the phone and try speakerphone. If it only happens on one line, the network may be the cause; if it happens every time, the audio section may be.

  1. Bluetooth. Turn off Bluetooth and call again.
  2. Restart. Turn the phone off and on.
  3. Speaker. Turn on speakerphone during a call; if you hear it, the earpiece should be checked.
  4. Recording test. Record in Voice Memos and play it back.
  5. Network. Try from another place, with another SIM or with Wi-Fi Calling.
