Phone shows it is charging but will not turn on: why?

If your phone shows the charging icon but will not turn on, charge it for at least 30 minutes with a suitable charger and try a force restart. If it still will not start, the power button, the battery or the board may be faulty; diagnosis shows which.

01Try these step by step

  1. Charge for longer. Charge for at least 30 minutes with another cable and adapter.
  2. Force restart. On iPhone: volume up, volume down, then hold the side button; on most Android phones: hold power and volume down together.
  3. Check the power button. If it feels loose or stuck, remove the case and try.
  4. Connect to a computer. If the phone is detected, it may be a screen or software problem.
