Phone not charging: causes and fixes

If your phone is not charging, try another cable, adapter and socket, clean dust from the port with a dry brush and restart the phone first. If the port is wet, the phone stops charging with a moisture warning; do not plug in until it is dry. If these steps fail, the battery, charging port or board should be checked.

  1. Cable and adapter. Try another cable, adapter and socket.
  2. Cleaning. Turn the phone off and clean the port with a soft, dry brush.
  3. Moisture warning. If the port is wet, let the phone dry, then plug in.
  4. Temperature. If the phone is very hot or cold, let it reach room temperature.
  5. Restart. Force restart and plug it in.
