Water spilled on the phone and the screen is black: what to do

If the screen does not come on after water got on your phone, turn it off and do not charge it. Liquid may have reached inside the screen or the board; if sound and vibration still work, the screen is most likely the problem. The sooner it is checked, the less corrosion there is.

01First steps

  1. Turn it off. If the phone is on, turn it off at once.
  2. Do not charge. Current on a wet board can short it.
  3. Remove parts. Take out the case, SIM tray and memory card.
  4. Dry the outside. Wipe it with a soft cloth; do not poke anything into the ports.
  5. Bring it in. Early board cleaning limits the damage.
