How to recover deleted WhatsApp photos

If a deleted WhatsApp photo was also saved to your gallery, you can get it back from there or from Recently Deleted. On Android, check the WhatsApp Images folder in your files. With a chat backup, reinstall the app and restore it; messages after the backup will not return. The easy way is to ask the sender again.

02Step by step

  1. Gallery. Look in the WhatsApp album in Photos or Gallery.
  2. Recently Deleted. Open Recently Deleted in Albums or the Google Photos trash.
  3. Files. On Android, search for the WhatsApp Images folder in the Files app.
  4. Backup. Check the backup date; restoring does not bring later messages.
  5. Sender. Ask the person who sent the photo to send it again.

Folder and menu names vary by version.
