Sensor problems after a screen replacement

If the screen does not go dark on calls, Auto-Brightness fails or Face ID on an iPhone shows errors after a screen replacement, the sensor parts may not have been moved correctly, a cable may be damaged or the sensor gasket may be missing. Remove the protector first; if it continues, ask the shop to check the sensors.

  1. Remove the protector. A thick or tinted protector can cover the sensor.
  2. Restart. Turn the phone off and on.
  3. Test it. Call someone and hold the phone to your ear.
  4. Go back to the shop. Ask the shop that did the repair to check the sensor cable and gasket.
