Speaker cleaning sound: how to use it and does it work?

A speaker cleaning sound is a low-frequency tone that vibrates the speaker cone to help push water droplets out of the grille. It is built into the settings on some Xiaomi models and into Water Lock on Apple Watch. It does not remove dust or dirt; if the sound does not recover, the speaker should be checked.

02How to use it

  1. Built-in feature. On Xiaomi, use Clear speaker in Settings › Additional settings if available.
  2. Apple Watch. The watch ejects water itself when you turn off Water Lock.
  3. Position. Hold the phone with the speaker grille facing down.
  4. Volume. Play it briefly at medium volume; do not play it loud for long.
  5. Dry it. Then let the phone dry on its own.
