iPhone 11 keeps restarting: check the restart logs

If your iPhone 11 restarts by itself, update iOS and check battery health first. If entries named “panic” keep appearing in Analytics Data in Settings, the restarts have been logged by the system; a hardware check may then be needed.

01Software and battery first

  1. Update iOS. Settings › General › Software Update.
  2. Battery Health. If Settings › Battery › Battery Health recommends “Service”, a worn battery can cause restarts.
  3. Storage. If storage is full, free up space.
  4. Apps. If it happens when you open an app, update or remove the app.

02See the restart logs

Entries starting with “panic” under Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Analytics Data show that the phone restarted unexpectedly. Menu names can differ slightly by iOS version.
