- Phone battery draining by itself: why does it happen? If your phone battery drains even when you do not use it, first check the battery usage screen: it shows how much each app uses. Background apps, weak signal, location and high brightness drain the battery fast. If the charge suddenly drops at a certain percentage, the battery may be worn.
- iPhone back glass cracked: can it be replaced?Yes, a cracked iPhone back glass can be replaced. From iPhone 8 onwards the back is glass and bonded to the frame; if only the glass is damaged, the back glass is replaced, and if the frame is bent or crushed too, the housing is replaced. Back up your data before the repair.
- iPhone crackling sound when recording video: causes and fixesCrackling when recording video on an iPhone is usually caused by a case covering the microphone, dirt, wind or a connected Bluetooth headset. An iPhone has more than one microphone; record with Voice Memos, the front camera and the rear camera separately to find which one is faulty.
- How to fix a cracked phone screenA crack in a phone screen cannot be fixed at home; toothpaste or baking soda does not close a crack in glass. If the picture and touch work, usually only the front glass is replaced; if the screen is black, black and white or spotted, the display is affected too. A screen protector stops it splintering for now.
- Phone speaker crackling: a step-by-step fixA crackling phone speaker is usually caused by dirt in the grille, liquid, a vibrating case or a speaker strained at high volume (blown). First gently clean the grille, remove the case and try another app. If it crackles at every volume and in every app, the speaker should be replaced.
- Black spot or shadow on an iPhone screenA black shadow or spot on an iPhone screen usually means the display panel was damaged by pressure, a knock or liquid. The spot usually does not go away by itself and can grow. If it does not show in a screenshot, the hardware is the problem and the screen needs replacing. Back up before the replacement.
- iPhone Home button soft or clicking oddly: what to doOn iPhone 6s and earlier, the Home button is mechanical; it wears, clicks oddly or stops pressing. On iPhone 7, 8 and SE (2nd and 3rd generation), the button is solid and the click is a vibration. If it does not respond, AssistiveTouch can be used for now. In a button repair, keep the original for Touch ID.
- Blurry phone camera: how to fix itIf the camera takes blurry photos, first clean the lens and remove the case; fingerprints and the case edge are common causes. For blurry close shots, check the macro setting. If the lens glass is cracked, or focus fails after a drop or strong vibration (e.g. a motorcycle mount), the glass or module needs replacing.
- Can a phone battery be revived? The truth about shockingA worn lithium-ion battery’s capacity cannot be restored; the loss is chemical. “Shocking”, feeding current into the battery from an external supply, risks heat, swelling and fire. If the battery drains fast, the right fix is a battery replacement; good charging habits extend a new battery’s life.
- Yellow spot on an iPhone screen: causes and fixA yellow spot at the edge or corner of an iPhone screen is usually caused by pressure on the panel: a swollen battery, a knock or a tight case. First check whether the screen lifts from the frame; if so, the battery may be swollen. If the whole screen is evenly yellow, the cause is usually Night Shift or True Tone.
- Hey Siri not recognising my voice: how to fix itIf “Hey Siri” does not recognise your voice, first check “Listen for” in Settings › Siri; turning it off and on makes the iPhone learn your voice again. Check that the Siri language matches the one you speak. It may not listen when face down or covered. If Voice Memos records no sound either, check the microphone.
- Samsung camera not opening: how to fix itIf the camera on a Samsung phone will not open or shows “Camera failed”, first restart the phone, then force stop the Camera app and clear its cache. If it will not open in safe mode either, or it started after a drop or liquid, the camera module or its connection should be checked.
- My phone screen came off or went black: what now?If the screen has come away from the frame, the most common cause is a swollen battery: do not charge the phone, do not press the screen and bring it in. If the screen is black but the phone rings or vibrates, it is working; force restart it, and if that does not help, the screen or its connection should be checked.
- iPhone touch screen tapping by itself: how to fix itIf your iPhone screen taps, opens apps or scrolls by itself, first force restart it and remove the screen protector. If Settings › Accessibility › Touch › Touch Accommodations is on, touch behaves differently. If it started after a screen replacement, the fitted part may be mismatched or faulty.
- What sets the cost of an iPhone microphone replacement? The cost of an iPhone microphone replacement depends on the model and the faulty microphone. An iPhone has several microphones (bottom, front and rear); on some models the bottom microphone is on the same part as the charging port. You can find the faulty one by recording with Voice Memos and the cameras.
- Huawei no signal problem: how to fix itIf your Huawei phone has no signal, first restart it, turn airplane mode on and off, and remove and refit the SIM card. Set the network operator to automatic in Settings and reset network settings if needed. If another SIM gets no signal either, or *#06# shows no IMEI, the antenna or board should be checked.
- iPhone screen flex replacement: when is it needed? On most iPhone models, the screen flex (the cable linking the screen to the board) is part of the screen. When it is damaged, the picture comes and goes, lines appear or touch works only in parts. In most cases the whole screen is replaced; repairing the flex alone is not possible on every model.
- iPhone back glass break: warranty and repair costA cracked iPhone back glass counts as accidental damage and is not covered by Apple’s standard limited warranty. With AppleCare+, accidental damage can be covered for a service fee. Outside warranty, the back glass or the housing is replaced; the cost depends on the model and how bad the damage is.
- How much does a motherboard repair cost? The cost of a motherboard repair depends on the type of fault (short circuit, chip failure, liquid corrosion), the model and the part needed; the exact price is given after diagnosis. In a board repair, your data is usually kept if the storage is intact; with a board replacement, data does not move to the new board.
- What sets the cost of an iPhone Home button replacement? The cost of an iPhone Home button replacement depends on the model, whether the button is mechanical or solid, and whether the original button can be repaired. As Touch ID is paired to the main board, it does not work with a new button, so repairing the original button or its cable is tried first.
