- After an iPhone screen replacement: common questionsAfter an iPhone screen replacement, you can test the picture, touch, Face ID or Touch ID and camera before handover. True Tone is kept with a transfer on suitable models; Face ID is not part of the screen. iOS may show a notice for a screen it cannot verify. Back up your data before the repair.
- What sets the cost of a Samsung Galaxy Home button replacement?A physical Home button is found on older Galaxy models, and on many of them it includes the fingerprint reader. The replacement cost depends on the model and whether the button has a fingerprint reader. If it does not press, Assistant menu is a workaround. After a replacement, you register your fingerprints again.
- iPhone volume button broken: replacementIf the iPhone volume up or down button does not press, first remove the case and clean around the button. If the button is stuck in or does not respond at all, the flex cable the buttons sit on is usually faulty. Until the repair, you can set the volume with the slider in Control Centre.
- No sound either way on phone calls: how to fix itIf neither side can hear the other on a call, first turn off Bluetooth; the phone may be sending sound to a headset or car. Then restart the phone and try speakerphone. If it only happens on one line, the network may be the cause; if it happens every time, the audio section may be.
- How do you open an iPhone back cover? What to knowAn iPhone’s back is not a cover users can open. From iPhone 8 onwards the back is glass and sealed with adhesive; most repairs are done from the screen side. On some newer models the back glass is designed to come off separately, but it still needs special tools, heat and adhesive.
- Phone screen lights up but no pictureIf the screen lights up but shows no picture, first check whether the phone is working: ask someone to call you. If it rings or vibrates, the phone works and the problem is the display panel or its connection. A phone stuck while starting can also leave the screen blank; a force restart is the first step.
- Water in the phone speaker: what should I do?With water in the speaker, sound comes out muffled or crackly; dry the outside and leave the phone in a dry, airy place with the speaker and charging port facing down. Sound usually returns as it dries. If there is no sound at all, the liquid was salty or sugary, or the phone gets hot, turn it off and bring it in.
- Touch ID not working after a screen replacementOn iPhones with a Home button, the original button is moved from the old screen to the new one during a screen replacement; this is essential because Touch ID is paired to the main board. If Touch ID fails afterwards, the button cable may be damaged or not seated, or another button may have been fitted instead.
- Is there an iPhone sensor test code? Testing without oneiPhone has no sensor test code open to users; *3001#12345#* only shows network information. You can test the sensors in daily use: the screen going dark on a call shows the proximity sensor, Auto-Brightness shows the ambient light sensor, and screen rotation and the Level tool show the motion sensors.
- Is a charging port fault covered by warranty? If a charging port fault comes from manufacturing, it is covered within the legal warranty period. Liquid contact, corrosion, bent pins or signs of impact usually put it outside warranty. Lint and dust in the port are not a fault; cleaning fixes them. The maker or an authorised repairer decides on warranty.
- iPhone screen moves when pressed: why?If your iPhone screen sinks when pressed or moves at the edge, the adhesive holding it may have failed, the frame may be bent or the battery may be swelling and pushing it. If the picture changes when pressed, the screen connection is loose. If the screen lifts from the frame, do not charge the phone.
- Phone not charging after a drop: what to doIf your phone will not charge after a drop, first try another cable and adapter; the drop may have damaged the cable too. If the phone supports wireless charging, try that: if it charges wirelessly, the charging port is most likely the problem. With no reaction at all, the battery connection or board should be checked.
- Ghost image on the phone screen: retention or burn-in?If a faint trace of the previous image stays on the screen, it is either temporary image retention or permanent burn-in. Retention fades after a while; burn-in on OLED screens, caused by the same image staying on screen for long, is permanent. Lower brightness, a shorter timeout and dark mode help prevent it.
- Cracked screen protector: is the screen damaged too?A tempered glass protector often takes the impact by cracking itself and protects the screen. Still, a hard knock can crack the screen underneath too. The way to know is to remove the cracked protector carefully and inspect the screen. Using a cracked protector for long weakens touch, and its edges can cut your finger.
- Samsung screen shadow problem: causes and fixA shadow on a Samsung screen is usually burn-in: static items such as the navigation bar, keyboard or status bar leave marks on the AMOLED panel. A grey or greenish shade at low brightness comes from panel unevenness, and a dark shadow after a knock from panel damage. A lasting shadow needs a screen replacement.
- How is a bent iPhone fixed?A slight bend in an iPhone can be corrected in the workshop by straightening the frame; a heavy bend or dent needs a housing replacement. Trying to bend it back by hand or against a table can crack the screen and damage the battery. If the screen lifts, touch fails or the phone gets hot after the bend, stop using it.
- Samsung touch screen not working: what to doIf the touch screen on a Samsung phone does not work, first dry the screen, unplug the phone and force restart it by holding the power and volume down buttons together. If touch works in safe mode, an installed app is the cause. If nothing helps, or it started after a drop, the screen should be replaced.
- Wavy lines on a phone screen: causes and fixWavy lines on a screen usually mean the panel was damaged by pressure or a knock, or the screen connection has loosened. Take a screenshot first: if the waves are not in it, the screen hardware is the problem. If it only happens while charging or at low brightness, change the charger and the brightness and test again.
- How many mAh should a phone battery have?mAh shows how much charge a battery can store. Your phone’s battery should have the capacity the maker states for that model. Be wary if a replacement battery’s label shows a much higher figure than the original. Battery life depends not only on mAh but also on the screen, processor and software.
- iPhone keeps turning on and off: causes and fixIf your iPhone keeps turning on and off, leave it on charge for a while and force restart it. If it only shuts down off the charger, the battery may be weak; if it loops on the Apple logo, software or storage may be the cause. In recovery mode, try “Update” first.
